Why does not the systray icon expand?

Using Win 7 x 64 sp1 and the latest AVAST presumably. Why does NOT the main GUI screen come up on double clicking the systray icon. Very unusual DUH!

Yeah,  mine occasionally goes unresponsive but a reboot solves the problem.
