HEY!

Kaspersky has an automatic ransomware and Screenlocker protection since their 2014 versions.

Its detects and shuts down everything thats behaving like a screenlocker.

@Pondus & Steven Winderlich,

Hi Steven Winderlich,

Well let us take that as a basic line then, we are all a big family of avast users.
Having said that, I am all for it to advise additional free tools from whatever reliable vendor to add to the residential avast! protection.
That is why I advised all along to use the DrWeb URL checker additionally and Bitdefender's TrafficLight extension next to avast! as my residential av solution.
I both have MBAM and SAS on my comp to complete avast detection and MBAM delivered me from AdwareInstallBrain recently.
After a reboot this pest was cleansed from the old cycles.
If ransomware and Screenlocker protection is missing as an avast commodity,
it is high time that is brought in and so you should place it on the avast! wish list.
Maybe avast! 's Santa will put it under the XMas-tree for you.

It is an intricate process always to get to the keys, read on: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/12/13/locker_ransomware/
In this instance  avira had some preliminary success.
On the other hand whenever users click after whatever attachment that appears in their mailboxes I feel users also carry some responsibility for infections here. You cannot blame your av afterwards for not detecting, whenever your actions are full of risk clicking after anything that moves on the screen.
That is being totally irresponsible and loads and loads of users are totally irresponsible in these respects period.
