Avast Pro License Not Importing
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:35:53 PM »
I just purchased a new PC and downloaded Avast and tried to import my license file and I am receiving an error. I have downloaded the license and tried that way but it says that file type is not located. The error I am receiving is attached. Anyone know how to fix this?

Looks like you downloaded a version that is not the same as you have the license for.

I was told by a rep from Avast! to download the new version and the license file would work. I downloaded the license file from the site also.

1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

Note : You need to be ONLINE during the install (sometimes online installer works whereas offline doesn't)

Avastclear : http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

2. Uninstall Avast by control panel  [If you don't have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
3. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
4. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn't) - reboot.
5. Install the version you downloaded.
6. Reboot.

Did everything above and when I go to import the License file it does not recognize the file being in any folder. I deleted every trace of avast on my pc including the license and still nothing. I had no problem until 2014 version release and I cannot find the previous version. I asked avast for my activation code but I have not heard anything yet.

I am getting the same error when clicking on the file from the download folder. Unable to insert the license file. The license is not valid for this product.
