Remove "This Site is Safe" checkmarks from browser?
« on: December 24, 2013, 02:16:55 PM »
Is there a way to remove all those "Site is safe" check marks that fill up the web page, without deactivating the feature? Maybe is there somewhere in the settings but cant find the option. If there is no option for that why not just show a warning on the unsafe ones and leave the safe ones as they are. We don't really care about the safe ones just the unsafe ones after all.

No,  at the moment it is "all or nothing".  You can set individual features for each page by clicking the AOS icon in you toolbar you will have the check marks as long as you have it enabled.

Unfortunately there isn't an option to remove the check marks, it is essentially all or nothing.

This may sound like just cosmetics or preference, but it's making it harder to read.  The check marks regularly cover up enough of a word that I have to take time to figure it out.  In some cases, I CAN'T figure it out.  For example, one check mark covered the first part of the month in "in XXXXy".  Even after focusing, I'm still not sure if the month is "May" or "July."

So, I'm now going to try to figure out how to turn it off.

Chrome - Tools>Extensions:  Firefox Add-ons>Extensions: IE Manage Add-ons.

The options on tools setting in chrome do nothing for the green check mark. Neither do the options for web shield. I had to disable the extension completely. As the OP said the mark covers too much.

The check marks on the search are an integral part of the AOS and there are no settings to disable those. It is an all or nothing choice I'm afraid.

A lot depends on what you search for as the returned hits can have multiple check marks on each line; not just one check mark per entry.

Just try a search for avast, that can return entries with multiple references in a single entry, that would place check marks over textual links.

Tried searching for Avast, same thing, one checkmark per entry. Maybe I have Avast set up differently, I did a custom install and did not include all that was offered.

There isn't a setting to change the AOS in avast, nor is there one in the actual AOS settings relating to the check marks.

I haven't got it active, but there are many instances where you can get multiple check marks per entry in a search. You can also get them in the likes of www.wikipedia.org even just searching on wikipedia may well give multiple check marks per entry.

This is the problem:

Some of the words are completely coverd
I think this is a bit ridiculous...

Yes pages with lots of external links in pages can certainly make reading it a hassle - especially if you happen to hover over one of the check marks.

Unfortunately as I said before there is no settings to change that it is an all or nothing.

Maybe Avast needs to add opacity control to the check mark. ???
Or, an option to only warn on dangerous sites. ???
