Avast blocking my site.
« on: January 05, 2014, 03:14:59 AM »
Hello Everyone Loing time Avast user here. Been using avast for years and I love premier.

I have an issue though. My site teamdotexe.org is a small collection of friends that get together and casually game. However Avast has tagged the site as malicious. With good reason too. I investigated after the original block by my AV and found that it was on bitdefenders blacklist. I contacted bitdefender and had it removed from the blacklist.

Hi David,

Thank you for your patience.

The analysis of the website has been completed:

- the website has been unblocked.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any other inquiries in the future.

Have a great day.

So Moving forward I then do some digging about afraid.org. I come across a thread here about a lad that used afraid.org to do his DNS routing like I do. well it turned out that people can forward to you since you are on a public list. Sure enough their was a sub domain linked to my site that was not mine. the User was banned and the link removed. Further more I then paid for a premium account which allows my account and domain to become invisible and any linking can only be approved by me.

Thats the current setup. Nothing is connected.

My site is a simple wordpress site so that its easy to edit for my staff. Its not even particularly heavy in the way of content. The problem is I suggest all of my friends use avast infact their is not one person who does not now. somewhere in the neighborhood of 50. This is a bit of a downer since most of the people that are going to use it get blocked.

I honestly didn't want to take this to the forums except I have actually attempted to contact Avast! on ALOT of occasions and offered to show them all that I have showed you in the hopes the ban gets lifted. Unfortunately it has been a little over a month and I have not gotten a response.

I have tried the online form numerous times. I have also submitted and asked others to submit false positive reports in the field provided by avast when it blocks you. Unfortunately to no avail.

Would anyone be so kind as to give me a direction to take at this stage? I believe I have included everything that is needed to have this resolved.

Thank you

-David

sorry, it was this contact form

http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php

Also

http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/teamdotexe.org Status:certified Clean

urlvoid has not been updated when clocking on the link and ACTUALLY going to traffic light

http://trafficlight.bitdefender.com/info?url=http://teamdotexe.org

the MX entries are black listed because this is a non-static UP and the reverse DNS search does not negotiate to my server but instead to verizons node. This cannot be lifted unless I get a business class account.

thank you

Thank you very much.

Also for those curious while some of the MX entries are probably still valid some are also not updated for example an actual query on spamhaus shows as clean

http://www.spamhaus.org/query/domain/teamdotexe.org

and since it is dynamic I can understand some of the blocks that may be present however my mail server is NOT an open relay.

I appreciate your help  :)

Hello,
any domain hosted on afraid.org can be used by other persons for dns hosting without your control. It happened for your domain, it was misused for malicious purposes - in that case, when nobody has control on subdomains of domain (DNS hijacking), we block the whole domain in order to protect our users. For you, the solution is most probably only changing the dns hosting and letting us know later.

Have I not given enough evidence that this cannot be done anymore? If I do setup a new DNS service whom should I contact for an update?

Thank you.

Hello,
use http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php and select "False positive" and write there, that you changed the DNS from afraid.org to another.
