GrimeFighter activation/usage
« on: January 06, 2014, 10:06:52 PM »
Could someone please tell me how to activate GrimeFighter? I am running the free version of Avast 9.0.2011 and GrimeFighter is selected in the Change box in Add/Remove programs. I do not see a listing for GrimeFighter in either the Tools menu in the GUI or the Tools settings menu. Any help will be appreciated because I really want to try out this new feature.

(I posted this in the main 9.0.2011 sticky, but thought I'd post here as well)

Thanks!

GrimeFighter is/will be a standalone product (sold separately) which has some connections into Avast AV, so in short you would have to first purchase GrimeFighter, however I'm not sure it is actually available at the moment.

Yes, there is also http://www.avast.com/grimefighter-intro,

On December 17th 2013 Pavel said "For GrimeFighter, we will have a phased rollout for particular configurations. Over the next few weeks, users should look out for GrimeFighter pop-ups notifying them how we can improve their PC performance."

I can't find any current reference to cost, or a download link, which makes me think it may not yet be available.

Also see:

The historical costs may be seen at the Jumpshot web site:

Of course, the pricing may differ when it's bundled with avast!
