Why so long to react to new threats?
« on: January 07, 2014, 09:01:53 PM »
The fourth day has passed since I sent you a new malicious program, downloaded from the website mentioned on zeustracker!
Sent via the built form and 1 virus@avast.com
Detection were still no!
At virustotal detective from 10 reached 32

And so every time, have to wait for weeks treatment! Why do we need streaming updates then?
Kaspersky added to the database within an hour

We, forum members, do not work for avast we are users just like you.
How did you send the malware/infection to avast? From the virus chest?

You can use this form to contact avast.
Please include the virustotal link.  :)

If you haven't read it yet, you may find the VirusTotal FAQ informative.  Especially the section:

"BAD IDEA: VirusTotal for antivirus/URL scanner testing"

Excerpt:

"At VirusTotal we are tired of repeating that the service was not designed as a tool to
perform antivirus comparative analyses, but as a tool that checks suspicious samples
with several antivirus solutions and helps antivirus labs by forwarding them the malware
they fail to detect. Those who use VirusTotal to perform antivirus comparative analyses
should know that they are making many implicit errors in their methodology, the most
obvious being: ..."

Correction: Sorry ... the quote is from the "About" page at VirusTotal not the FAQ.

Hello,
it's detected by Evo-gen -- only on access detection not on demand detection.
