Avast say Win Firewall is off (it isn't)
« on: January 15, 2014, 03:41:48 PM »
Hi,

My current version is 2014.9.0.2011 of Internet Security.  My OS is Win 7 Home 64.  Avast keeps telling me that windows firewall is turned off but when I check the system it is in fact turned on. When I tell Avast to resolve the issue anyway, it says it is unable to start the firewall.

As a possibly related issue, I get a windows action center warning that Avast is turned off. I have reset both with no change to the warnings.

In previous versions, it was said it was fine to keep both Windows Firewall and avast! Firewall enabled together.

Since v9, that stance has changes. The firewall in v9 is completely rewritten and it is advised to disable Windows Firewall.
