Avast Software Updater reports new version of flash player
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:56:05 PM »
Good morning folks,

Just yesturday I installed Microsoft Updates, new version of adobe reader, and new version of flash and adobe air. Today Avast software updater reports a new version of flash player! Well the problem is that the version number of flash player that avast software updater reports is wrong. Flash player website reports the version number that I installed yesturday is the same.

I think it's another bug from avast software updater again. Screenshots is provided.

StaticGuy....

It would appear that there is a bug in the update database which is sent along with the virus database. My software updater is reporting that version 12.0.0.43 is available, which is correct.... for Mozilla based browsers. I use IE 11 and the latest version of it is 12.0.0.38 which is what I have, and I would bet, what you have also. Hopefully, they will fix the database with the next virus database update.

I don't think it's a bug on Avast's behalf... codecguide.com is reporting 43 as well.  What the actual software says and what's broadcast by Adobe as the release candidate and what's actually available to download seem to be different.  Not really sure how it works, but I've seen it happen with Adobe on several occasions where it's different.

There are indeed different versions but not release candidate vs. anything. For IE, it is .38, for Chrome it is .41 and for Firefox, etc. it is .43. This is per their testing web site, which says I have the latest version (IW11 and 12.0.0.38)

Yeah Gregg! I have the same version as your Flash player 12.0.0.38. Avast software updater reporting a new version of flash player 12.0.0.43. I use IE11 and Firefox and etc programs as well. It's only the Flash player that avast reports that a new version is available.
