New build 100% CPU
« on: December 31, 2013, 03:05:18 AM »
I updated the Avast on 25th Dec. Then onwards I am not able to use the applications properly.

My Major issue is Avast Svc is taking more CPU memory that blocking other applications normally. Even blocking internet applications that blocking the pages to load.

I am using Avast Free in Windows 8 with configuration as 1.85 Ghz I5 processor.

Can some one help on this to overcome?

I am using Internet by turning off the service that helps me to use the Internet access in good flow!! :-[ :-[ :-[

There have been reports of high CPU utilization for AvastSvc.exe.

However, 100% is usually not the result of just one process, and should be temporary (i.e. Firefox starting up at 98% then releasing).

I would recommend visiting sysinternals.com and downloading the free Process Explorer.

You can then run it and observe what process and even what thread (right-click on Process Name > Properties) is using the most CPU at any given time.

I'm having the same problem.

Avast is consuming 100% CPU.

When I disable the module internet consumption drops to 25%, sometimes even less ...

I have Avast Internet security, Win 7, Intel Core 2Duo - E7200.

Could someone help me?

Português:

Estou com o mesmo problema.

O Avast está consumindo 100% da CPU.

Quando desabilito o módulo de internet o consumo cai para 25%, as vezes até menos...

Tenho o Avast Internet security, Win 7, Intel Core 2DUO - E7200.

Alguem poderia me ajudar?

i raised a support ticket and received following suggestions.

Can any one try the same and post back as It didn`t worked for me :-\ :'(.

And I get assurance that there will be a fix in its upcoming release.

Hello,

Could you try this reinstall workaround:

Note: please be sure you run all uninstall and cleanup utility as administrator and - which is very important! - you rune it AS ADMINISTRATOR. Be an administrator and run something "as administrator" is not the same so you should do right click on a exe file and choose "Run as Administrator"option.

1. uninstall avast8 (and 2014 if you have it) - you should use our removal utility
( http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/aswclear.exe )

2. restart and delete manually both avast folders. One in Program Files and one in Program Data.

Then check if in the adapter properties in control panels -> network adapter settings is not present "avast firewall NDIS filter miniport". If yes, remove it manually please.

Then go to Windows\System32\DriverStore folder and search for aswndis*.* . If there will be anything with this delete it manually.

3. Turn off Windows firewall and use Microsoft clean up network driver utility:
http://vpn.hpintelco.net/ifcleanup.x86.exe
http://vpn.hpintelco.net/ifcleanup.x64.exe

4. then clear all off-line content and cookies from your web browser and download our latest release
http://www.avast.com/download-software

and install it. Before operating system restart go to avast GUI -> additional protection -> and experts setting of avast safezone and reset Safe Zone and you may reset Sand box too.

After successful installation could you double click on you license file to register your copy of avast.

5. Turn on Windows firewall

Why not just clean install the new beta, works fine here on win8.1
