Windows Security Center reports Avast 2014 is turned off
« on: January 20, 2014, 12:42:55 PM »
Good evening folks,

Just now I updated my VPS for my Avast 2014.9.0.2011 and the new VPS update is 140120-0. Within few minutes I was doing my own business and suddenly Windows Security Center reports that Avast is turned off  ??? ??? ??? and yes my Windows Defender is always has been and always is turned off because I don't use Windows Defender at all. I tried turning Avast back on via windows security center but no response. Main screen for Avast reports everything is good. Did a faulty VPS update got issued or something? There was also a problem with the software updater reporting a new version of Adobe Flash Player is available, which in fact it was false due to a faulty VPS update. So right now, I am thinking the same thing for this!

Please refer to my following attachments. Thanks.

Goodnight and have a nice day! Hope to see helpful answers about this tomorrow.

Repair avast!:
1. Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs -> avast!
2. Click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.
4. Reboot.

Hello Asyn! Thanks for getting back quickly? Yeap your post worked? Should have known better though I am using Avast since version 7 lol. I thought it was similar to the avast software updater problem so I didn't run the repair! Strange, a small thing i.e. running an update can cause a minor issue!

Going to sleep now :)
