Notification area - tooltip won't go away
« on: February 18, 2014, 03:14:18 PM »
The blue "everything is good" tooltip in the notification area won't go away, plus it sits on top of all other windows, except for "stay on top" windows. Very annoying.
I can't terminate the AvastUI.exe process (permission denied, even as administrator! wtf!) since that's one the tooltips belong to.

What's more, they interfere with the Avast icon context menu (still in the notification area): while hovering over the icon, the tooltip pops up, which is fine, but it also pops up when the context menu is opened AND it causes the context menu to close, which happens about twice per second.

For neither problem, silent mode makes any difference.

Avast, please fix this annoying bug.
This is Avast 2014.9.0.2013 on Windows 7 x64.

Executing this command in an elevated command prompt:
Code: [Select]
taskkill /im AvastUI.exeSeveral times until all stuck tooltips have dissappeared, and while the Avast system service is stopped, works around the problem.

But it still needs a proper fix!!

With respect ........ I have avast9 on 4 systems here, and install many times each week on systems in the workshop.

I have never yet seen this behaviour on any installation.

Reading your other posts and the very odd " bugs" you have, I have little doubt that your install is either corrupt or affected by other software.

What do you mean putting bugs in quotes? What are you implying?

My installation is not corrupt. Why would it be? If it is, then the cause of that needs fixing.

BTW, it's still happening in the latest version.
