Tried to update VPS? If it's not working try to repair the installation. Go add/remove programs; select avast; press change/remove and in the setup window choose repair option (you must be online to do this). good luck, and let me know if it helped.  ;D

thanks that sorted the memory test problem ;D

but now theres another problem ???
the avast icon in the tool bar has a red circle across it. i know this means that its not active but when i press the icon to activate avast it comes with another message that says:

avast!: the AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error.

iv followed the instuctions that the FAQ recomends but this message is still coming up :(
this isnt my lucky day is it.

Errors on RPC are commonly related to bad installation and the presence of other antivirus application in the system...

Had you any AV software before avast, for eg. norton?
Have you restarted yor system after repair option?

Norton leaves a lot of stuff behind even when you uninstall it. Be sure you have copletely removed norton. Just look here and check. Good luck.
