How to change IP of server and Client Deployments?
« on: February 12, 2014, 12:29:05 AM »
Our AES console says the Ip address of the server (same machine) is an APIPA address?!
How can I set it to a different (correct) IP address?
How would I update ALL client deployments with this new IP?

It appears that all of our clients have this APIPA address in their settings...  not cool.

Thanks!

altho plenty of threads have been commited to this with a solution, ill answer it

an APIPA address is only given when the card cant get a DHCP lease.....
the first question then is:  why would you have your server use DHCP addressen, needs static address so you have control....

Before you fix anything, think up an IP address for your server. A STATIC address...
In the console change the clients to use this address and let them run for 24 hours like that.

Then you have to figure out why your server has an APIPA address.
When you fixed your server to have a static address (again?) then your clients should be able to connect to the new address....   assuming they can reach your server on the apipa address too since they received the apipa address from the server to begin with......
