I am running Windows 7 Professional, and occasionally use Virtual PC-XP mode to use a legacy application.  I was using AVAST 9 (Free) in W7 and on the XP Virtual Machine.

Recently I found that the Virtual Machine crashed and rebooted every time that I tried to access the C drive of W7 from the XP virtual machine.  This used to work fine, but I have no idea how long and how many updates since the last time it worked properly - it could be years.
After reading other online reports of this problem, I uninstalled Avast on the XP Virtual Machine, and the crashes have stopped.

Is there a way to use Avast in the Windows Virtual Machine-XP mode that allows normal operation without crash/reboots?

Note - this same problem was reported months ago by two other users - see:

Apologies if a solution has been posted elsewhere in the forum, but my searches did not reveal one.

Thanks in advance.
