Ok I just ran chkdsk. Should I reboot (I'm asking cause it takes two hours to get to this screen after reboot)?

Attached is the chkdsk output.

Thanks again Essex.

Next is to verify the system files

From the recovery console command prompt run the following :

sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=c:\windows

Ok, I did not restart after the chkdsk thus I was able to run the scannow command quickly.

Here is the output log.

Thanks again.

It may be a problem with the reserved partition being on the wrong disc..  Could you disconnect the hard drive and then run a system repair from the CD with just the SSD connected

I have three hadr drives on the computer. 2 ssds and 1 hdd. Windows is on the SSD. Do you want me to disconnect all the hard drives and then reconnect the main harddrive with windows on it and then run a system repair? Or do you want me to disconnect all the hard drives and run a system repair from a boot disk with only connecting the C drive?

Thanks for your help.

Leave the SSD with windows on connected and disconnect the others then run the repair

Ok, I just ran repair with the other drives disconnected and it started in 30 secs instead of 2 hours!!

anddd I just restarted it and it logged onto windows!

So it is probably the other hard drives? What should I do now to find out what the problem was?

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I am attaching a txt file from the "windows recovered from an unexpected problem" popup that appeared when I logged onto windows.

:)  I am glad about that, you should now be able to connect the other drives safely

Could you possibly upload the following dump file to a file sharing site so that I can have a look at it.  C:\Windows\Minidump\021214-13228-01.dmp

Also Avast is now damaged so a repair will be required

I just uninstalled avast and am redownloading it as I type. Is that ok?

Can I just attach the minidump files on here like a regular txt file?

Yes the uninstall then install should be OK

This is purely for my own interest to see where the failure occurred and then determine if there was a quicker fix... Just in case I come across this again :)

The second file is the most current dmp file. There were two of them in minidump folder, so for completion I am linking you to both.
