Safezone Browser
« on: February 10, 2014, 09:42:01 AM »
If  i  use safebrowser, sometimes it works but mostly just freezes.
On the occations when it does work, when click out, computer is frozen, have waited for over 10 minutes no response, have to do a hard reboot.
Have uninstalled, using avast clear in safe mode no difference.

Have unticked safemode browser in Add/Remove Change rebooted.
Have given up on safemode, been trying for over a week.
Just must not like this computer, as i looked on forums and could not find anyone else with this problem.  If i try on XP comp no problems.

Cheers

Hi Para-Noid

Thanks for your help

Read the post, but didn't see anything about freezing.
Anyway i disabled "avast online security" add-on in each of my browsers.
reset Safezone up again rebooted.

Had a warning come up with the following " The following plugin is unresponsive Unknown. Would you like to stop it"  I clicked the yes button. then was informed Shockwave Flash has crashed.

Computer froze solid, waited nothing happened, had to do a hard restart.

Now safezone seems to be working okay, can close and open another browser, close and reopen safezone without any problems. Will keep an eye on it touch wood (my head) ;)

Cheers

Hi again

Computer is freezing badly again, now frozen 4 times, meaning 4 hard boots. :(

Have now unticked safezone rebooted.

Will not use safezone as causing huge problems on comp.

Cheers :)

I'm curious about Shockwave Flash. This error is happening while trying to run SafeZone?

Please go to SafeZone browser then type chrome:plugins in the address bar. What plugins do you see here?

If Shockwave is there, disable it then close and reopen SafeZone. Anything change?

Hi and thanks

Reset up safezone again rebooted.
Did as requested and in chrome plugins i have ( adobe Flash player version 12.0.0.44 and underneath there is Shockwave FLASH 12.0 R0, If i disable this i will disable adobe flash player as well, so at this stage i left it alone.
Once again froze computer, had to do a hard reboot :(

I checked in my ordinary version of chrome in Settings and plugins and that has the same as safezone.

Cheers

Well, it was supposed to be a test to see if it was what is causing the problem.

On the web site is says that a bookmark can be made to open in the SafeZone but it doesn't say how and no click seems to allow it to be set up. How does one do that? Thanks.

I don't run Comodo firewall 6... but have read where it has caused problems on other systems. I don't know if this would be the case for you or not.

I ended up sending a ticket about this to Avast support.
Had a reply very quickly.

Asked to reset  safezone browser, did not work.

Then asked to
Please try to remove avast! Online Security browser extension from your machine following these steps:
Please go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program (Programs and Features, Add or Remove Programs)
Select avast! and click on Uninstall/Change. then uncheck the browser protection checkbox

Did the above and at the moment seems to be working okay. (Touch wood placed a finger to my head  :))

Was a very good experience with Avast Help desk
Thanks Richard :: From avast! Technical Support Specialist

cheers

Spoke to soon Safebrowser has gone back to freezing like before, shockwave flash crashing. >:( :(

At the moment i am giving bitdefender internet security a try ( free activation code lasts 6 months)  got it from wilders.

So far I am impressed with it, Bitdefender Safepay protects online banking etc. Tried it and works fine.

No problems at the moment, will test for a week to see how it behaves

I have uninstalled BitDefender, and have gone back to Avast Pro.

Bitdefender was working fine, but i have more confidence with Avast.

Will try SafeZone Browser when the next program update is released ( soon i think lookin at release candicate.)
Cheers :)
