I have read this thread and can't understand why anyone would "not" want avast to "phone home"?
The cloud is used for updating the file reputation and other items for the benefit of other users.
If, what is anonymously, gleaned helps other users be safe...great!
By opting out you are hurting not only other avast users but yourself as well.
