Standard Shield exclusions still scanned
« on: June 29, 2005, 03:33:24 PM »
Hi,
I've recently installed Avast 4.6 Home, and have so far found it to be a great prog. Except for one thing...

I currently have a conflict between Avast and iTunes, every time a new song is played, itunes updates a couple of files, and avast scans them as it should. This scanning causes the songs to skip, so the simple solution is to add the files to the Standard shield exclusions list. Right?

I've tried every combination but the folder in question is STILL scanned everytime these files are updated!
Am I totally missing something here?

The three files in question are:
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes 4 Music Library.itl
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music Library.xml
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Temp File

And the Standard Shield --> Customise --> Advanced --> Exclusions I've tried include
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\*.*
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\*.itl
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes 4 Music Library.itl

After rebooting, the exclusions are still there. I open itunes, I change songs, and then check standard shields 'last scanned' item and it's C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Temp File  >:(

Any ideas?
Cheers,
Heresy

Could be that avast! passes it through scanner, but it's not really scanned.
Thats why you see it in Last scanned field. But i could be wrong...

C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\*

Thanks for the quick reply!

Looks like that's done the trick

So is it likely that the "\Temp File" was the only one it had a problem with or is that the only format accepted in the exclusions list?

Nevermind. It's working, thanks heaps  :D

I'd say yes.
The *.* mask covers all the files that have a dot in their name - which is not the case for this one.
