I think I'm going to download new version from website and pump this BETA to the trash.  >:( But after that I'll have to generate VRDB, make my tasks again, set all programs settings...  >:( So my free time goes to trash too... and now I'm getting angry!  >:( Worst BETA I ever had! Hope final version is better!  :-\

What are you talking about? There should be no problem updating from the beta normaly. Wait a couple of hours till the updated version is distributed to all our download servers is this that much?

Hang on guys, don't you recognise and accept the risks when using beta software ???

These are the risks you take with beta software if you aren't prepared to accept the risk don't load the beta. There are many other software products that insist you uninstall the beta before installing the latest release and in some cases for the beta updates too.

I think in the time that I have been using the avast beta versions, this is the only time that I have experienced any problems. Yes this particular beta session seemed very error prone, possibly the worst one in just over a year.

I didn't take me long to copy my avast4.ini file, uninstall boot install 665, shut it down and replace default avast4.ini file with the copy I saved.
However, that is beta testing and I'm happy to take the risk because in general avast's beta sessions have been relatively problem free.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

You are right. On the other hand I like BETA testing, how bad it was.  ;D As ALWIL guys always solved the problems. I'll wait till tomorow before removing BETA manually.  ;)

Take it easy guys, it takes some time to send 20GB worth of data from Prague to Dallas. ;)

By the way, i somehow still don't get your ubiquitous comments about "the worst beta". What is that supposed to mean?

We got spoiled by betas with minor bugs. This one had few big ones. Thats all.
But you managed to fix them so there is no real problem ;)

As far as I remember, there were only two bugs in these betas:
- incorrect handling of default values in provider settings
- a bug in saving of the Use XML Storage check box setting

Plus the glitch in the Enhanced UI that I wouldn't even call a bug (someone who hasn't seen how it looked in the previous would never guess there's a problem :))

Or am I missing something?

The CAB archives handling ;) Just kidding. Biggest bug for me was just exclusions bug and CAB handling that i found by "accident". I never really noticed XML relation to update checkboxes...

The CAB handling was not related to the BETA - the code has been there for ages (since avast 4.0).

BTW, it should now be possible to update to the final version (4.6.691) from any of the betas. :P
I guess this is the right moment to lock this thread.

Adieu :)
