Update, host server unreachable
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:57:41 PM »
Hello,

Using Avast Free anti-virus version 2014.9.0.2013, PC Windows 7 pro.  I am getting a pop up screen to notify me that an important message... need to update Avast anti-virus. Clicking on to update, nothing happens.  I have gotten updates regularly, but ever so often to do not. The Avast screen says all is updated?  and an area on the AVAST screen for update? starts but says "Host server unreachable!  So I went to the Avast website and uploaded VPSUPD file and then executed. It then updated the product and I am assuming updated the definitions... and the pop up message screen did not show red any longer (for an important message).

So how can I resolve getting updates regularly and not get the message Update, host server unreachable?

Any comments will be appreciated,

SyBerGuy

Getting the vpsupd.exe file and running that is a workaround used here when updates stop for some reason or other.  vpsupd is the virus definition file.  It is not the program update file.

Suggest monitoring it for a day or so.  If no joy, then consider a repair of avast!.
