Still nothing. Won't start normally and tried in safe mode, still stopping on aswRvt.sys and aswvmm.sys files.

OK next phase now the boot sequence is correct

Run FRST from the reatogo desktop again

In the search box type :

Explorer.exe

Press the search button and post the resultant log

Download the attached Fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion a log will be generated please post that
Then try a normal boot

Could you try your Vista CD now and see if it recognises the windows installation.  If it does can you run FRST from there

The problem with your system is a mix of bootkit virus and deletion of a system file

OK the MBR is still broken, what I would suggest now for speed is to use the reatogo destop to back up all your data and restore the computer to factory settings

OK boot to the reatogo desktop and backup all files that you do need

What is the make of your computer as there is a recovery partition

Not sure how I can back up anything if it doesn't recognize the system.
Don't remember the exact specs, but it's an Intel quad core running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

I think Essexboy is referring to booting using the bootable USB stick (ReatogoPE) you created and then manually copying the files you need off to that USB stick or other media.

Yes, reatogo is a functional XP type system and should enable you to open windows explorer to locate and save files to a CD

By make of the computer I mean Dell, HP etc
