Internet mail provider

why the internet mail provider (ashmaisv.exe) loads with windows ? could its config modified to be just loaded when checking mail -may be by ashserv.exe- and then closed?

I'm afraid that's not possible - ashMaiSv is the process that is listening on specific ports the e-mail communication goes through. ashServ doesn't know when e-mail scanning should occur - it is performed right when ashMaiSv gets connected to (by your e-mail client). I.e. I can't imagine how it could work without ashMaiSv.
