Here is example... one of Martin's great skins... Blue Panel 4.0

First one is with translucent effect ON. You can "see through", so you are able to see those icons behind the skin... also, edges of the skins are anti-aliased, so skin looks much smoother...

Second one is without translucent effect enabled... edges of the skin are jaggy, and also, part where you suppose to "see through", is just normal solid color... not translucent area anymore... you see ? That's where TGAs with alpha channel are usefull... that area is actually alpha channel, and you can set transparency while you are still creating graphics in Photoshop... you can't control that from SkinBuilder...

I hope this clears it a little bit.

Cheers !

Yes, certainly, thanks for this example.

It actually confirms what I was thinking. So in my view, the XP translucent option is simply a way to use transparency between applications windows.

sZc,

can you make this skin with the same dimensions of the "Silhouette_4in1 by SZCraftec"?

I would like to have it... ;)

I'm sorry, but it would be practically waste of time redoing something that is already done  :-\ . However, even if I decide to redo whole skin from the scratch, I really don't believe that Alwil guys would upload it to the download section... again - it's practiacally exactly the same skin. Many people requested some kind of minimal dark skin, so I gave them this one. I believe it's dark enough, and I also believe it's smallest skin of all those skins in download section.

Cheers !

Believe me my friend, I completely understand you. If you are using some of those ultra-high resolutions, skin is really small, especially those letters. But, that's the problem with this skinning engine... it's not possible to make resizeable skin with these tools we use, at least I'm not aware of any possibility.

Anyway, I'm sure there are some other nice skins in download section, little bit bigger than this particular one... and I believe you'll find something that you like and that fits nice your screen resolution. Believe me, it's a lot of work, and I personally think it would be much more productive to spend it on creating brand new skin.

Cheers !

I really understand your point... ;)

I only like the "Silhouette_4in1" and "Black Vibe", so I will use the "Silhouette_4in1" on my 1400x1050.
This the best resolution for my Laptop...
