One of my just-updated alternative browsers flashed a Avast-supplied SSL Cert message as I tried (unsuccessfully) to go to a secure website.
AHA! moment --- I have been having ever-increasing failed-to-connect problems with all sorts of out-to-the-web programs.
After uninstalling Avast, I even got my Quicken2007 direct connect working again. And I was finally able to complete my Rx refill order
Edit: I will be watching the change log item for a fix to the connectivity problems --
