9.0.2016 Avast is using too much CPU
« on: March 28, 2014, 04:02:10 AM »
For some reason, after updating Avast, I found out that Avast is eating so much of my CPU resources.

Any help?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Avast Premier v.2014.9.0.2016

Intel(R) Pentium(R) B980 2.4 GHz
Intel(R) HD Graphics 2000 Family

Edit:
I found out that if I disconnect from the internet, Avast suddenly calms down. When the internet goes back up, CPU consumption resumes to 80-90%.

I discovered that if I turn off the Web Shields, everything goes fine and dandy again. Also, if I have web shields on, if I manually update my virus definition, this yields the same results as turning of Web Shields... For a while. Then CPU consumption goes back to 90%.
