Offline Laptops - Best Practice
« on: March 28, 2014, 07:56:04 AM »
Hi everybody!

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on best practice were for the following scenario.

Every student at the Academy receives a laptop that goes in and out of school regularly.
I want to protect these devices two as they do enter our corporate network, however when they are off site for the lengthily holiday periods I want to ensure that they still update.

Is there a way with avast to set them to check for updates from the internet if it cannot find the stipulated server or do I need to think of something else.

Any help appreciated

If your using the Enterprise console (and the SOA too I believe) there is an option to have the client update from internet IF the local server is not found.

This is specially designed for this kind of situations and it is how I have it configured at this moment for my office users that have a laptop that dont have it in the office often.
