Avast is on, it's the windows security centre that is reporting falsely.

Rebooting the system should fix the problem as would right clicking the avast ball and disabling all shields then re-enable.

Rebooting didn't but shield advice did. Thank you for the quickest fix I've ever had!! ;)

Hi
it may be dumb question but please tell me what do you mean by right clicking Avast ball (where is it?), tried right clicking Avast icon on my desktop but it didn't give me the option to disable shields. I don't have an avast ball icon in windows security message as posted by blowtorch73 (I'm using windows 7)?

The avast ball is in the tray icons at the bottom of your screen near Date/Time, right click the ball and you'll be shown a list of options where you should see Shields.

You wont get the message that blowtorch received unless windows is detecting that your security is disabled.
