I clicked on the first one.  There are ten or eleven of them.

Thanks!  I tried to view his profile but it wouldn't let me, so I didn't know where he was located.

I really appreciate all of your help!  Take all the time you need.   I feel a bit guilty for taking what time I have already!

OK rummaging in my toolbox here is a golden oldie

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
    [/list]
    • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
    • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
    • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Farbar updated FRST last night to include a few different areas

Could you delete FRST from your desktop and download this latest version

    Check the additions box please

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

    • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
    • Please copy and paste log back here.
    • The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

Here are the logs from the new version of Farbar.  :)

It produced a log called 'shortcut' so I included it as well.

Not regularly.  In fact, I was considering uninstalling it.  I use Chrome primarily.  Should I dump it? I won't miss it.

    Essexboy:

This is looking like a particularly intractable problem.  I have been watching this thread with interest, as I'm experiencing precisely the same problem on a Win 7 laptop.

At this point, as you're deeply into differential diagnosis territory, I'm wondering if you would like a scan of any type from my computer so that you can do a side by side for common elements.

Let me know if so.  Otherwise, I'll continue monitoring this thread in silent interest.

    Regards,
    Jim
