Avast - Full Scan
« on: April 15, 2014, 02:33:35 PM »
I have to question the effectiveness of any AVAST Scan, when a Full Scan of my hard drive (40GB with 500,000 objects) is completed in less than an hour, and other products I use, take anywhere from three to four hours to complete the full scan. Does AVAST only scan the Windows folders ?

avast scans the entire drive.
It depends on your settings what it does scan or not.
And yes, avast scans a lot faster than many other products without scanning/detecting less.

avast also uses the persistent cache to speed up scans. Once a file is in the persistent cache
avast will not scan that file again unless it is accessed again.  8)

I have a custom full scan which scans over 200 GB is around 20 t0 25 minutes.
I run a full scan once a month and a quick scan once a week.
