Do you have or did you have any prior antivirus or security software on your machine prior to installing Avast?

What is your OS?

What security software do you have on your machine now?

Was Avast a clean install or was this an upgrade?

I just had Avast! free and that was always up to date, I wanted to trial the Internet Security before buying it, so I've always had Avast! on my Machine.

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1. (I thought it had updated to SP2 but apparently it didn't...)

I have the Avast Internet Security trial re-installed (clean install this time) at the moment, I figured I could deal with it for a couple more day while trying to get the issue resolved, if I can't than I'll have to try a different software.

At first it was an upgrade but when I noticed the problem I thought I'd give it a few day before trying anything, upon waiting and nothing happening I done a new clean install and the same issue still exists.

Download these 2 tools and run them to remove Avast and clean up all the components.

Then try a fresh install of the trial version.

Run them in this order :

1) http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe

2) https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=94a12102e5094675&id=94A12102E5094675%21952&authkey=!AHu_KR3cJN1jHt4

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried the avast cleaner last time and it didn't work but I tried both programs like you said and it unfortunately didn't work, on the up side it doesn't duplicate as long... aha.
