My pc says avast isn't on
« on: April 21, 2014, 12:17:13 AM »
In windows 7, the open action center says avast is not turned on and to use windows defender. Avast shows it's working, I restarted my computer and it still says that I'm not protected. I've had avast for 2 years and never had this happen. Can someone please help?

Reset the action/security center.
It is a known bug in Windows since XP.

Thank you! I searched it also and followed how to delete the problem in action center. Why would windows say avast isn't working if it is?

Because its data can become corrupt, so it is incorrectly reports avast as not running (when it is). This possible corruption is why Eddy was suggesting a Reset of the WAC/WSC.

Try this, right click the avast tray icon and select - avast! shields control - Disable for 10 minutes; you will get a confirmation dialogue, answer yes. Now restart the shields from the avastUI, this may jog the WAC out of its slumber.
