Like I said "sooner or later"
Later? How long? 10 years?

It'll happen when you least expect it, like DavidR just stated it's your system your choice.

Do you mean definition updates or program updates?

Most likely program updates, but also Windows  updates can give you issues.

The worst case scenario would be if they conflicted during boot, which could lock your system.
Even if that happens, I can still use System Restore on my Windows 7, correct?

No one can possibly answer that, some find problems immediately when they just bump into remnants of a previous AV. Which is why it is important to completely remove an AV before installing its replacement. Here you are doing the reverse, leaving an existing AV whilst installing another. Just stopping the resident part of an AV still has the low level drivers.

System Restore frequently messes up avast, just browse the forums to see this.

As I have said, your system your choice, we have given you the information, act on it as you see fit.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

If I may chime in...

1) Completely uninstall Emisoft.
2) It is quite safe to have both avast and MBAM.
3) As far as the dangers of running two anti-viruses read this.
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.
