Avast scans and protect pop mail, so the client used shouldn't matter.

POP Peeper is not just a mail notifier, it can receive and send mails.  Does Mail Shield support it? If not, I will simply disable Mail Shield.

Test it for yourself as to whether avast is compatible with pop peeper.

I would not disable the Mail Shield as that could be your first guard against a spam bot running on your system, if it's not used it's not using any resources so leave it be.

Any method to ascertain your belief?

Check task manager with mail shield installed and then removed - you'll notice no difference in resources used.

Have you ever done this? If yes, I will trust you and don't have to do it myself.

If you were trusting me you would have done that back at reply 4 ;)

To answer your question, yes I have tested
