Oh, and BTW, do you think I have 4 PCs with the exact same problem???
And they all use the same connection, right?

I don't take useless advice, only useful.
Plus, last time, I tried a repair and it didn't fix anything.
Please explain to me how this problem was "magically" fixed then, last time, after the devs received my log?
THEY FIXED THE ISSUE WITH THE SERVERS, I didn't DO ANYTHING and it got fixed.
Don't you get it??
How stubborn can you be?
There comes a time when it becomes obvious that the person seeking help, really isn't looking for help but,
a place to vent their frustrations.
Seem like venting is what makes you feel better so get it off your chest.

You already seem to have the answer to your problem and no matter what any one else suggests, your answer is still the best.
So, just wait till the problem goes away.
Have a great day. :)

avast is a free product, I don't think we are entitled to complain even if it is not working properly.
And we should not complain against people who aim to help, even if their "help" is of no help.

With all due respect, I feel that if there is a legitimate compliant, free product or not, the complaint should be lodged.
However it should be done with the proper attitude and tone. Having an "attitude" is not good, nor should it be tolerated.
I, myself have had complaints. But I have always used the right tone and attitude.

You know what?
I tried the damn repair, just now.
Guess what? IT DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING. Avast refuses to update, says I'm already up to date, and my VPS is 4 days old!!!!!!

Please someone from the avast team, read this!!!!!

Download the latest VPS directly from here:
http://www.avast.com/en-us/download-update
Once that's installed, wait till tomorrow and see if it then does the update on it's own.

of course it's correct.
Now, I just fired up a VM running xp64 + avast 9 and it updated, but to version 1404021-1, not to the latest.
For some reason, some avast update servers seem to think that 140421-1 is the latest VPS and refuse to update to anything newer than that.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Avast team, PLEASE fix this!!!
IT's exactly the same problem we had 10 days ago. identical.

already tried that, bob. it refuses to update if my VPS is equal or newer than 140421-1. Like I said, this is a server problem, only that avast team can fix it.

I mean, the manual update using vpsupd.exe works, but after that, it's the same, it won't update if my VPS is newer than or equal to 140421-1. If I have an older version, like 140414-1 (in the VM, for example) it updates, but to 140421-1, not to the latest.

Are you sure it's an avast server?
It could be due to international web hub see http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=149377.msg1085902#msg1085902
There are lots of hubs/nodes around the world. Have you tried using OpenDNS?
Not sure if it will help, but it's worth a try. OpenDNS is free.

Do you mean avast! free can be connected with a wrong server? How?

My instructions said to wait and see if the update occurred an it's own after doing the manual VPS update.
Obviously that was to hard to understand.  :(
I don't use a Virtual System and it isn't anything you mention till your last post ???

No! What I am saying is there is the possibility of a bad node/hub.
Any internet connection goes through several hubs/nodes. If at any given moment
or any length of time a node/hub is down it can screw up any users surfing. I use OpenDNS which has servers
all around the world. Most of the time my surfing goes through Tyler, Texas. There has been times
when it's gone through Chicago or Los Angeles or even Miami, Florida. From OpenDNS it still passes through
several nodes till it gets to where I want.

Try this ping/traceroute test and see how many hops it takes http://tools.pingdom.com/ping/

I don't think it's a hub problem, because I CAN connect to the avast servers. It's the server that responds (and I quote my update.log file):
