The frequency and duration of these server outages is one of the reasons that when I bought an additional computer a month ago, I decided to go with another A/V program even though I still have an additional AIS license to spare. If the update outages weren't enough of a security concern, the fact that no one from Avast feels that it is important enough to check on here and let their customers know that they are aware of a problem and are working on a fix is alarming, frustrating and frankly inexcusable.

To illustrate how another A/V company handles this situation, on my new computer with another A/V, I noticed in the GUI what I thought were missing updates one day. Since I wasn't very familiar with the update frequency versus what their marketing material says it should be (and because of my bad experience with Avast server issues), I contacted this other A/V company and within an HOUR an actual employee contacted me to assure me that everything was o.k., and that they closely monitor server issues around the world since frequent updates are essential to good security. I was instructed to contact them immediately if I suspected a server issue so they could address it. A very different response from another A/V.

Luckily, I've got this new laptop with another A/V that I am writing this on so I don't have to risk security by using the AIS protected desktop.

Given the time zone you are in that would equate to the same roughly of those many time zones West of you, roughly late on the 30th April.
