Cannot uninstall avast completely , Internet is not working
« on: April 30, 2014, 06:11:45 PM »
I uninstalled avast from add/ remove folder then my internet is not working , I tried to uninstall avast completely using avast uninstall utility and tried to re install but can't.When I try to install avast I get a 'process trust' error. It says that is not trusted by avast self defense module. I have no antivirus currently listed in my control panel. I DON'T have malwarebytes installed. problem continues even after using avast uninstall utility in safe mode .
Please help me. :'(

There are 2 other programs that are supposed to clean up what avastclear doesn't.
http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/
and another one called Revo uninstaller, sorry no link but it's at cnet.
I tried them both with no result I still have 104 avast folders I can't get rid of. Like you I cannot get online, although my symptons are different. I'm hoping for an explanation but according to IT at Microsoft my hard drive needs to be reformatted and everything re-installed (he said without a hint of emotion).

@keithb
None of those two are working :'(
Revo installer is not detecting avast
Avast cleanup tool did not show any result.

I PMed Essexboy for you and he should be able to use FRST to blow away Avast but you need to run the scanner first and post/attach the log.
Take a look at this thread (yes, I know it is a Virus removal thread) but go down to the "If you cannot  Boot the computer" and follow those instructions and post the log from FarBar.

Also, what O/S are you running ?
It sounds like you can boot into Windows to you can always do a in-place upgrade which will re-install O/S and not effect your other programs.  Hopefully, Essexboy's help will mean you don't need to do this.

Also, I'd go ahead and make sure you have all your important files backed up to USB HDD.
