License Invalid or banned
« on: July 17, 2014, 02:14:01 AM »
I have the paid for version of Avast Internet Security 2014.  It was working fine until a few days ago when it tried updating the virus definitions.  I received an error saying the license is invalid or banned.  I tried reinserting the license - no help.  Customer support didn't even want to try to give any suggestions, just waned to get at my computer remotely, which I don't want to do unless I absolutely have to.  Emailed customer support and haven't heard anything from them.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get this fixed please?

A license which is invalid/banned means that the license is either pirated illegally from sources (such as the internet) or the user has exceeded the amount of PCs the license is valid to, e.g using a 1 pc license on 2 or more PCs.

You will need to contact avast! support and wait for them to get back to you.

I paid for this license and only use it on one computer so that should not be the issue.  Thanks for your comments though.  Already tried tech support.  They are not helpful.  Will definitely NOT be renewing with Avast.

It can take support between 3 to 10 working days to respond.

wow!  That's crazy.  I should have stayed with my previous company.  They were always available for paying customers.  It seems Avast doesn't care about theirs.  And, all these different login/passwords for each part of their system and the verification for the forums are ridiculous. Thanks.

1. Reinstall avast. And try again to apply license.
2. This is forum of users, not support. For support open a ticket at support page at avast.com

When did you buy the license?
I can see one license associated with the email address you use on the forum and the system says the purchase order has been canceled two days later.

Hi Igor,

Thank you for responding.  I've been offline and just back now.  It was in January of this year.  I believe the 12th and I never asked for cancellation.  I asked for auto renewal to be cancelled and it was.  Then last week, I started getting errors about license banned or invalid, so it makes no sense of a supposed cancellation two days after I bought it in January.

I received the same email response from tech support and I told them the same thing.  It is almost August now and I never asked to be cancelled.

Hi rks1,

we checked it with the store provider and the original license should be active again now. We apologize for the confusion, the provider accidentally cancelled the whole license instead of just disabling the auto-renewal.
