« on: July 17, 2005, 04:03:10 AM »
I have installed avast! 4.x Home/Pro and now windows XP pro will not see it and tells me I have no virus protection.  Also the splash screen doesn't show when I start Outlook 2003and I have set to do E-mail and all of that.  Whats wrong??

Did you (or do you) have any other av installed? If so which one?
Are the services for Avast running? start > run > services.msc
What exact version of Avast?
Do you have any other security (related) software installed?

I have no virus protection.
Why are you saying this? Isn't ashserv.exe running?

Make sure the avast plugin is not disabled into MS Outlook:

Outlook 2003 > Help > About > Disabled items
Outlook 2000 > Tools menu > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-In Manager.

Hello, Tech

I didn't know the check point on MS Outlook (NOT Outlook Express).
I will put the check point onto my web doc.
Thank you very much.  ;D

By the way, I'm using MS Outlook 2002.
The option of Outlook 2002 is the same page of MS Outlook 2000 one.

Searched my HD and (ashserve.exe) is not there.  As for Outlook never had to do anything before.  Is this a case of going into the registry and clean house and uninstall and start over.
Am using 4.6 Home edition, build Jul2005 (4.6.691)

Sorry, it was a typo: ashserv.exe and not ashserve.exe.
