« on: May 14, 2014, 08:33:10 PM »
I need to do a system restore and it won't complete unless I disable Avast (free)....how the heck do I do that? I've searched for it...can't figure it out. Please help.

Remove the tick from the self defence module

I thought that might be what I was looking for...but it didn't work. Avast restarted with the system restore. The self defense module was still deactivated but the restore failed. Even the undo restore fails. IDK if it may be my anti-spyware...but I doubt it. I just use Spybot S&D with Windows Avenger or what ever it's called.

I'll give it a try...but Spybot used to be awesome until they upgraded it. I prefer spyware blockers that don't have to have active processes slowing down my system. I used to like Ad-aware, but they added active running processes too.

Malwarebytes have both, active in pro version, on demand in free. Never had any problems with it

it works great with all AV. visit any malware removal help forum and you will see that Malwarebytes is often the first tool they run

any questions, Malwarebytes forum here  https://forums.malwarebytes.org/
Malwarebytes blog here  http://blog.malwarebytes.org/

I've downloaded it...but one problem...I don't see where the free version has any real-time protection like Spybot S&D does. This feature is only on the purchased version. I do agree it's more aggressive, but it doesn't provide protection.
