Avast firewall problem
« on: May 16, 2014, 10:46:44 PM »
I have an HP laptop with windoes 8.1~ I recently installed Avast Premier. shortly afterwards I noticed an Avast pop- up with a message stating  Avast  detected changes in  your   internet settings and has changed your firewall settings.  My wi- fi would then go down causing a loss of internet connection. Shortly afterwards I would get another pop- up with the same message and the wifi would come back on (sometimes). I called Avast support and they told me that I had another anti virus program that was conflicting with Avast and it would need cleaning out they  charged me $189 for a technician to fix the problem. They took 2 hours to run several remote  "clean up" programs and nothing changed. I call them again the next day and once again they went through the clean up process.  The Wi fi still goes up and down at random times and always I get the Avast pop up message.
I believe the firewall is the problem but the Avast support don't seem to know how to fix it.  Anyone else ran ito this type of situation?

If you paid $189 for support for Avast Premier and no solution, I'd be looking for a refund.
The support by the way is a "3rd Party" provider  not Avast technicians.

Is there a way for Avast users/customers to contact Avast technicians directly?

That's what this forum is for.

So true .
I presently am not using the Avast Firewall so I'm the wrong person to attempt to assist you.
There are a number of users that may have input. All the assistance here is by "long time users" of Avast and occasionally some of the Avast team/dev add help :)

Why is there an unexplained change in your internet settings ???
If this is your home service, I would contact your ISP and ask them what is going on.
