Result of scan
« on: July 15, 2005, 09:40:03 PM »
I have avast! version 4.6.691 and I have some questions with the result of the scan of my disk :

- opened files : 205875
- tested files   : 205837
- tested folders : 4726
- infected files : 2
- files not tested due to errors : 0

Can you explain me why there's a difference between the number of opened and tested files ?

In the xml report, I have some files with status :
- code 42056 ( archiv protected by password ) : some files of Spybot software, AD Aware SE Personnal
- code 42125 ( zip corrupted ) : java files ( .class, .html )

Can you tell me why ?

Sincerely.

Well that's my opinion:
There's a difference because for example avast! opened a file but didn't succeeded to scan it for some reasons ( e.g. Zip protected archive, zip corrupted and more)

The reason is there plain and simple.
avast! can't scan password protected files, it doesn't know the password (usually set by a program to protect its files or the user), in this case your anti-spyware programs. A file that is corrupted (or in a format that is modified/unknown) can't be opened/extracted to be scanned.

Thank you for your answers.
But when did Avast increment the 'files not tested due to error ' counter ?
