Netgear Genie being reported as infection
« on: May 21, 2014, 04:11:00 PM »
Downloaded update to Genie.  Upon launch Avast interrupts and reports it as infected.  FileRepMetagen[DRP]
At the bottom it asks if this is a false positive?  How would I know...  Anyone know if this is actually a problem.  Who do I do from here?

FileRepMetagen[DRP].  is a warning for a file with low reputation, and as seen on the VT scan it is very new

What is being found up is an Adware Plug-in flagged.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Same here these past few days. Reported as a "false positive" and had fun reinstalling, adding an exception, etc.
Presumably quite a few similar reports recently? :)
