AVAST tech support
« on: June 13, 2014, 07:18:15 PM »
I have found the need to contact AVAST tech support (1-866-951-7679) since upgrading to the Internet Security version. I am wondering if i'm really contacting AVAST of some 3rd party support group (would be my guess). I've only called this number a few times, but each time i feel they are not helping me and resort to trying to sell me services ($179) which i feel i don't need. For example, the last time i spoke to them, they remote controlled my PC and told me i had malware on it that they would remove for a fee of course. Strange thing is, i ran a full system scan and no threats were found. I really believe the support i'm looking for is not there and they are only interested in selling their service.

Have any of you had similar experiences and what do you recommend w.r.t. to this tech support?

.....Rob

Makes sense. However, i'm still interested in hearing what others think of the so called tech phone support.

No, never used it..  However, I have assisted several who have and I am not overly impressed the way they try to push their services rather than do what they are supposed to do

Luckily, i got suspicious early on and no, did not give them any money. I had a similar experience a while back with another 3rd party tech support group when trying to contact Mozilla with a problem. This was one of the worst experiences of my life. In this case, it did cost me money, which i ultimately got back after they destroyed my XP operating system.

I must ask this question. I'm assuming AVAST is a reputable company, so why are they using these 3rd party scammers?

Not listen him with paid premium support, you don't needed to pay for some analyses your PC. But situation when avast don'see malware can be, that because thay want from you some log files.

+ our forum specialists work faster than support :) attach log files here in new thread - it's free :)

When i upgraded to the Internet Security version of AVAST, i received an E-mail from AVAST telling me......."NEXWAY, INC. has fulfilled this order and is a trusted avast! partner and reseller."

Also, in the same E-mail was a product support box showing............"Call our free telephone support at
+1 866 951 7679"

Yes! I am one of those people who feel ripped off and am very angry about it. I first paid for the suite, then found I needed support, so I went that route. Along the way, I foolishly paid the $179+ that ended up being more like $195 with tax. After hours on the phone while people ran every program they had in the arsenal, ending with Hitman Pro, I still had a screwed up computer. Even worse, the tech's final advice to me was to allow them to reinstall my operating system (Windows 7 Home). This is nuts!

Another thing: Is 877-204-9327 a legitimate telephone number for avast!? It is the number I was given to call back on if I needed more help, and I'm pretty sure I used it also.

Mad as he** in Texas.

BluDiamond, this sounds all to familiar. I truly believe they're running a scam here and why AVAST would want their name associated with these 3rd part scammers is beyond my understanding.

If i were you, i'd demand my money back under threat of legal action.

I just fell for their hardsell, do their best to panic you routine. I had three supposed licensed Microsoft techs on my computer yesterday. I'm being billed almost $300 for two computers although they will never touch one and will never touch the other again. this is a scam!!! DON"T FALL FOR IT!! I've tried to get a refund directly from them and they are saying once the techs spend time on your machine there are no refunds.
I can't believe some of the things they did to my computer. The master saleswoman "Guaranteed" me they would fix my computer. Out of nowhere she found Conduit on my computer. I think it was a screen she has on hand to show on your computer. then she told me only licensed Microsoft technicians can remove Conduit. And if I have Wi-Fi any other computers will probably have it too.
I feel like an idiot, but really am pissed at myself and Avast for this. Again don't let them fool you. this is a scam run by a third party. All they want to do now is send another person to take over my computer and play....I've lost all respect for Avast. I used to think them to be an honorable company.
