Script error on
« on: July 16, 2005, 12:47:09 AM »
When I open Avast 4.6 Home, the page showing the 5 simple user interface points has a tick box at the bottom that stops it coming up every time I open Avast.
If I tick the box I get a script error message saying;
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 227
Char: 26
Object doesn't support this property or method.
Code: 0
URL: mk:@MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Alwil%20Software\Avast4\English\Help\ChecklistSimple.chm::/checklist.htm
Do you want to continue running the script on this page?
If I choose Yes or No, the program continues, but the same screen appears evry time Avast is opened.
Can anyone suggest a cure?
Thanks

If your using Internet Explorer you can disable the notification function of script errors. Go up and click on Tools, then Internet Options, click on Advanced. Under advanced you will see Browsing. Under Browsing you will have the options that state "Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and another that states Disable Script Debugging (Other). If these two are not checked (ticked) put a tick or check in the boxes by their entry and then click on "Apply" and then"Ok" in that order. That should take care of you not seeing this error on your screen again. Hope this helps.  :)

What exact version of Avast do you have?
(right click the blue ball next to the clock > about)
It looks like: x.x.xxx

Neal,

I believe this is the CheckListSimple.chm file that opens automaticly after installing/using Avast for the first time.
That page has on the top:
Quote
The usage of the simple user interface is indeed very easy.
The following five points will get you started.
At the bottum there is a checkbox "Don't show this window next time"
