Are these legitimate pop-ups from Avast?
« on: June 18, 2014, 06:13:55 PM »
In the last few days I have been receiving pop-ups that seem to be from Avast. They say "We have identified the following browser add-on which has a bad reputation among Avast users." There is a prompt to remove the bad add-on. I have run scans but nothing shows, yet the warning still appears. Of course I would like to accept, but as I have never seen this before I am concerned. What should I do?

This is Bull$t. This popup is unwanted. I do NOT have this software loaded. Also if you try to run, it want to load Yahoo has your search engine. It doesn't allow you to run this feature without accepting the Yahoo search. This is CRAP!!!!

Speeddial is a hidden addon in all browsers and is not something you want

Yep there is a problem with the reset of main search provider but that is being worked on

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Scan.
  • After the scan is complete click on "Clean"
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
