Service Pack3 Unsuccessful Installation
« on: October 21, 2003, 07:24:43 PM »
Hi All,

am continually getting an unsuccessful message when attempting SP3 for Outlook2000. Could this be because of Avast's built in protector..? Anyone else had this experience..? Just trying to eliminate all possibilities. Cheers.

I doubt it - avast only installs as a plugin into Outlook... what exactly is the error you get?

Hi All,

just that it was unsuccessful. Nothing else, eh. Cheers.

EDIT:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( OfficeUpdateV3 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: V3_2|511167|INSTALL|MAINSP3OP_9327_ENG||2003-10-22 02:26:03|9|FAIL|00000000|The operation completed successfully.|.

You may try to disable the avast plugin temporarily, to see if it helps.

In Outlook: Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced -> Add-in Manager.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.
