Grime Fighter comes back after update

so after the recent update, I decided to try it out, and it still sucks:

can you tell me what's slowing down my compy from that??

I'll pay to have you remove it if I know what you're removing...
or I'll just remove everything manually, by myself.

I don't see why avast continues to include GF... it looks like grime in itself...

I will ask a moderator to move it to the correct section.

If you run GrimeFighter you will get to see what it has removed.
You also can run GrimeFighter again to undo changes.

You don't have to install GrimeFighter if you don't want it.
Just remove it and with a next install/update, choose the custom one and you can select what you (not) want to install.

If you say that you want to see what is detected before running it, I agree with you.
Or perhaps we should be allowed to run it e.g. 5 times before deciding to pay for it or not.

and it auto-updated after I restarted my compy, so I kinda didn't have a choice there... heh
though I like the auto update option on because, since I run XP normally, I want the latest database ASAP. >_>

I can't stand the later OS's where MS basically built a RAT into the kernal >_<
(imagine what happens when hackers worse than me get a hold of that interface)

also, with GF, it's a matter of what I want, vs what they want...
their expectations might break a few things I've got going, so I want to know what they want to remove, otherwize they don't deserve my pay.
(unnecessary restoration isn't needed as you should already have the ability to know if something would be broken)

It doesn't automatically install on any of my systems.
I installed it the first time, didn't like it, removed it and never saw it again.

As with all of those "cleanup tools", it doesn't do anything that can't be done manually.
I only use CCleaner because it saves me time.
If I want to do a thorough cleanup, I do it manually.
But I am busy with computers since 1983.

It isn't really a matter of what you/they want.
They want to a product that many people want so they can sell it and make money.
That is what a commercial company is all about

- Not saying what it is gonna do
- Not giving the choice what you want or don't want it to do
- It is not free while there are many free utility's  that can do the same.
- There is no trial version.

well, I havn't uninstalled GF, I just disabled it...
I was talking about the avast update when I said it automatically installed after restarting... heh

yea, IKR, I freakin LOVE CCleaner!

what I meant there was their plans for your compy are uncontrollably hard-coded, and may not be compatible with my needs...
but yea, IK, all about money 9_9

Hi,

Thanks for the straightforward feedback.  I can tell you that the two most important comments (for me at least), A) that we don't provide enough up front info about what we will clean and B) There is no "try and buy" option are both being worked on right now. 

I hope in the not-too-distant future that both of those areas will be greatly improved so our users have a bigger sense of confidence in this product, which really is pretty cool and works quite well for the vast majority of our users.

alright, now there's something that I can like!

but I want to mention, do keep in mind that I am a windows (customization) hacker,
so I like to know as much of the ins and outs of what's going on as possible.
(just so I know where I can back-track and fix if anything gets screwed up)

also keep in mind I do use WinXP with no intent to upgrade...
I don't trust the MS kernel-RAT in Win Vista and up.

I'm a hacker because I want to port the libraries from 7 and up back down to XP.
(I already know it is possible, MS just wanted to force users to upgrade to an UNSECURE OS)

if that doesn't grab you enough, take a look at the initial release of the XBox One.
that more than enough says that MS wants to spy on you and control your life.


also, I know Win7 and Win8 both have RATs as a friend of my friend used Python to disable them.
(7 (out of the box) needs an update before the RAT will be operational)


sorry if I'm going a bit over the top...
quite a few Daniweb members think 7 is diamond which P's me off every time I talk about it...
