Applying Skins
« on: July 28, 2005, 09:01:37 PM »
I'm having problems applying skins to the avast! anti-virus. I download them to the avast skin folder and all but I still can't select them to apply. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

Did you click on the skin files (e.g. in Explorer) after download to "install" them?

:)Sorry, I'm not quite understanding, but I did click on the skin file and it says windows can search the web to find the appropriate program to read the file via web, but it didn't find one for me. Then I tried to download the skin to avast! skin folder but it still didn't work.

P.S. SZCraftec makes good skins :)

That's because you have to "select a program"  and choose avast!  not search the web  ;)

P.S: you can right click the ones you downloaded in explorer and click "open with..." then just choose avast!

How are you trying to select them?

Are you using the Select Skin option from the menu in the Simple User Interface (see image)?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Guys he is having exactly the same problem like other person the other day... remember ?

He is not using Internet Explorer. He probably uses Mozilla, Firefox or some other browser... that's why he gets that stupid question from his browser.

@Yinyang4evry1 - WELCOME to the forums as first thing...  ;D

Second thing - thanks for the compliments !  ;)

And third, last but not least... open Internet Explorer, not Firefox or any other browser... then go to avast! skins download section and click on the skin name you want to download. Everything will go automatically from there. Skin will be auto-installed...  ;)

Cheers !

Or look HERE

Yinyang4evry1,

since you are new to Avast I suggest:

- Read Avast's manual and make yourself familiar with the application (how things work/what settings do etc)
- Use the search option on this board before asking. A lot of questions already have been asked and answered here.

Hey Yingyang, if you're still choosing which skin you want to try on first, I suggest the silhouette.  :)
