Avast fully functional, but Vista claims that is turned off ...

... seen on more than one PC on both Vista32 and Vista64 ... where could the problem be? Btw: everything fully updated (both Vista & Avast free to latest version 2021)

Please use the search option before posting.
What you are experiencing has already been handled in many other posts.

Solution:
Reset the security center.
